Windows Key + (“C”) => Its gives you the Charm Bar, that may be hard to get to display with a mouse (especially when using multiple monitors)

Windows Key + (“H”) => Its shows the sharing options for the application you are currently using


Windows Key + (“I”) => Brings up the information pane that usually only appears once you mouse to the Charm Bar and click Settings. It contains the handy buttons to control networks, volume and power

Windows Key + (“P”) It brings up multi display option

Windows Key + (“X”) => It brings up a context menu filled with links to Windows related settings, such as Event Viewer, Command Prompt, Task Manager, Programs & Features, and many more

Windows Key + (“.”) => This key chucks the program you are using into either one of Windows 8's multi tasking sidebars.

Windows Key + (“W”) => It will allow you to search for settings in a similar way to files. Many times this selections may open the Control Panel.

Esc => (when you are at the Start Screen) or Windows Key + (“D”) It will immediately close or cancel the Start Screen for the Desktop


Windows Key + [1-9] => It brings up one of the programs pinned to your taskbar, with the number you entered corresponding to the location of the taskbar.

Windows Key + (“F”) => It shows the Metro interface to search for files. Selecting a file will open a Metro app first, but if there is no Metro app to open the file it will choose a Desktop app.

Windows Key + (“E”) => It brings up the Windows Explorer.
